Helen Halchak Cwalina

Helen Halchak Cwalina, 89, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023.
A lifelong resident of Upper Askam in Hanover Township, Helen was a daughter of the late John and Pearl Homick Halchak.
Her husband of fifty-three years, Francis Cwalina, died on April 5, 2009. Sisters Jean Syroid, Julie Fromel, Anne Kaczmarczyk, Mary Kotch, and brothers Michael, John, and Frank Halchak also preceded her in death.
Helen is survived by her children Darlene Bodek and her husband Mark of Mountain Top, Pearl Lorenz and her husband Karl of Nanticoke, and Frank Cwalina and his wife Joyce of Plymouth; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Helen's Life takes place Thursday, December 28, 2023, with visitation from 5 to 7 PM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. Burial in Saint Mary's Cemetery will be private.
