Roseann Daddamio

January 26, 1935 — January 8, 2024

Roseann Daddamio, affectionately known as Nonna, of Nanticoke and Wilkes-Barre, passed away in the presence of her loving family on January 8, 2024.

Born January 26, 1935 in Castelvecchio Subequo, L'Aquila, Italy she was the daughter of the late Giovanni Valeri and Delfina Pignatelli.

Leaving behind her beloved family and hometown, she followed her heart and moved to America at nineteen years of age with her late husband, Raymond Daddamio. A year later, she had her one and only child, Delphine, whom she simply adored. After the sudden passing of her husband in 1977, it was just Roseann and Delphine with no other family members in the country. Over time, childhood friends, colleagues, and neighbors they met through the years became their family, still cherished to this day.

Roseann worked in the garment industry for thirty-five years as a seamstress, but her most esteemed role was her selfless dedication to her family as a mother and Nonna. Her grandchildren Alecia and Michela were her pride and joy, and God blessed her to bear witness to three great-grandchildren, Luca, Della, and Mila.

Nonna was truly loved by all who knew her. Gentle, humble, quiet, and kind are words that describe her. Many often related her relationship with her best friend and daughter, Delphine, to the dynamic duo Dorthy and Sophia from The Golden Girls. Nonna cherished her time with her family; she loved unconditionally, and nothing brought her more joy than making people happy.

She firmly believed in God and was a member of Saint Nicholas-Saint Mary Parish and The Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America, Francesco Ferruccio Lodge.

Her daughter Delphine and son-in-law Mark Torbik, with whom she resided for the past twenty years; grandchildren Alecia Lyons (Jesse) and Michela Torbik; great-grandchildren Luca, Della, and Mila; brother and sister-in-law Tiberio and Francesca Valeri; nephews Giovanni and Paolo Valeri; numerous other family and friends in Italy and locally; and the family dog, Minnie will miss her very much.

Celebration of Roseann's Life takes place in the Church of Saint Nicholas, 226 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Visitation begins at 9:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM. Concurrently, the funeral service starts at 5 PM in la Chiesa di San Francesco D'Assisi in her hometown in Italy.

Donations to Saint Nicholas-Saint Mary Parish are preferred and will honor Roseann's memory.
